WILMINGTON, Del. – An Anthropic-backed PAC, the Statehouse Fund, is infusing out-of-state AI cash into Kathy Jennings’ bid for a third term as Attorney General. The News Journal highlighted the AI money funding Jennings’ campaign. The dark money from the AI industry reflects Jennings’ long history of cozying up to the very corporate special interests she’s charged with regulating. It’s also the latest chapter in a dark money, nationwide push from the AI industry to influence elections.
Civil rights attorney and candidate for Delaware Attorney General Dwayne Bensing released the following statement:
“We’re concerned, but we’re not surprised. This is yet another instance of AG Kathy Jennings cozying up to the billionaire class and tech insiders. Just last year, we learned about her lavish trip to South Africa, complete with first-class tickets, high-end wining and dining, and an African safari. This luxurious trip was all funded by corporate lobbyists as well as large public companies including Amazon, J.P. Morgan Chase, TikTok and Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram.
“This is exactly why I’m running: to tackle corporate greed and stand up to the broligarchy class. They’re trying to influence our elections and power their bots instead of empowering the people.
“I’m running for all Delawareans. Kathy Jennings? She’s bot and paid for.”
