AG Jennings Goes Quiet on Delaware Voters As Out-of-State Dark Money Fuels Her Campaign

WILMINGTON, Del. – Attorney General Kathy Jennings is not participating in next week’s Delaware Attorney General Forum, hosted by the College Democrats at UD & Women in Law and Politics. The two-term incumbent also refused to respond to the ACLU of Delaware’s candidate questionnaire, depriving Delawareans of an opportunity to hear about her positions on key issues like policing, cooperation with ICE, and increasing accountability for elected officials.

Jennings is going silent on Delawareans at the same time of increased scrutiny on who exactly is funding her campaign: The News Journal reported earlier this week that an out-of-state PAC funneled more than half-a-million dollars of AI industry cash into her campaign coffers. This is the latest in a long track record of prioritizing corporate interests and the political establishment over everyday Delawareans:

  • Last year, WHYY reported that Jennings took corporate-funded junkets to South Africa; a luxury spa in Tucson, Arizona; and a Ritz Carlton in Colorado. Jennings flew first class to South Africa and went on a safari - all paid for by corporations like Amazon, J.P. Morgan Chase, TikTok, and Meta.
  • Back home, residents in New Castle County also took a backseat to the political establishment when Jennings was the Chief Administrative Officer. County leaders across the state failed to properly assess property values over four decades - neglect which continued during Jennings’ tenure with the county. As AG, Jennings eschewed any oversight and instead looked out for the political elite who were wary of addressing the growing crisis. The result? A funding crisis hit Delaware’s public schools, and taxpayers paid the price for decades of failed leadership.

“Kathy Jennings is bought and paid for by corporate special interests - billionaires and the political establishment in Delaware are who she views as her most important constituents,” said civil rights attorney Dwayne Bensing. “I’ve had the honor of traveling this state and talking with Delawareans from all walks of life who are sick and tired of elected officials who make big promises, only to acquiesce to corporations or the broken Delaware Way.

“I’m not spending these last two weeks of the campaign hiding from the voters - I’m proud to be out in the community every single day, talking with people about my vision for a Department of Justice that moves our state forward and prioritizes people over corporations.”

Dwayne Bensing is running for Delaware Attorney General to tackle corporate greed, ensure independent government oversight, and protect our civil rights. Justice is a relay race. It’s time to pass the torch.
