LGBTQ+ Victory Fund Endorses Dwayne Bensing for Delaware Attorney General

WILMINGTON, Del. — The LGBTQ+ Victory Fund is endorsing Dwayne Bensing’s campaign for Delaware Attorney General. The Victory Fund works across the country to increase the number of openly LGBTQ+ people in elected office at the local, state, and federal levels; Bensing would be the first openly gay man elected attorney general.

“I’m honored to receive Victory Fund’s endorsement,” said Bensing. “Victory Fund has spent decades championing LGBTQ+ leaders committed to public service, and I’m proud to have their support. I’ve fought to defend and advance equality throughout my career — from defending transgender rights in court to speaking out when my bosses at the Department of Education targeted trans kids. That work strengthened my commitment to protecting civil rights and standing up for people, particularly when those in power won’t. That’s what my campaign is about: Building a Delaware Department of Justice that serves every Delawarean — not the establishment, not the corporate elite, but the very people it’s meant to serve.”

Victory Fund’s endorsement reflects Bensing’s relentless commitment to LGBTQ+ equality over the course of his career. Bensing:

• Filed the first-ever federal district court case advocating for the rights of transgender students under Title IX.
• Served on the trial teams for two landmark transgender legal challenges — G.G. v. Gloucester County Public School (The Gavin Grimm case, which established precedent across the Fourth Circuit that discrimination against transgender students violated Title IX); and U.S. v. North Carolina, the federal challenge to North Carolina’s anti-transgender H.B. 2 law.
• Blew the whistle on Department of Education leaders who were pressuring ED attorneys to find questionable legal reasons to launch an investigation targeting transgender athletes. The action cost Bensing his job.
• Led the Delaware Stonewall PAC for five years; relentlessly advocating for policies which would ensure LGBTQ+ people are treated with both dignity and equality under the law; and working to support a new generation of LGBTQ+ leaders across the state.

The endorsement is the latest in a recent string, as momentum for Bensing’s insurgent primary campaign grows. Earlier this month, Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner endorsed Bensing, and Bensing was recognized as a 2026 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense candidate. In-state endorsements include Delawareans for Palestinian Human Rights and the Delaware Stonewall PAC.
